In my latest video we have the only player (currently) in the game using golem inside the top 200. Seif is a pro player who has been running this new version of golem beatdown which has the canon cart. Playing a golem deck requires a different mindset to your regular decks inside Clash Royale, you need to be comfortable with taking some tower damage in order to invest more elixir on offence. This is particularly important against quicker cycle decks like hog rider, bait etc. Your main aim is to build up a big push behind your golem that can overwhelm the opponent and hopefully get a three crown victory. The night witch and baby dragon are the two best support cards, you can use your mega minion and canon cart on defence with the support of your spells. Seif will only play the golem in the back if he has an elixir advantage or he's mirroring a play by the opponent. For air defence you will mainly rely on the baby dragon and mega minion, you can also use the tornado or fire too.
Golem is your main win condition and works great at tanking tower damage for your other units and allowing you to build up a big push behind him. His death damage can kill bats, goblins, skeletons and even minions, if you get the timing correct with a tornado and a low health golem you can pull the opponents units into the death damage radius just as he splits into golemites. Golem can be played in the center of the arena to kite units into the opposite lane and away from your princess towers, this works well against pekka, mega knight, ghost, knight and even air units like inferno dragon, baby dragon, minions etc.
Baby dragon has always been a strong card due to his splash damage and the mini tank ability of this card. It's a great counter to swarm units and also has good synergy with the tornado on both defence and offence. In single elixir his main role will be to defend and apply light counter push pressure however as the match progresses you can start using him to support your golem.
Canon cart has a long range which allows you to use this card in one lane to help defend the other. Use this card on the counter push and try to protect it while it's still in its cart form. It can also be played behind the king tower to help defend a graveyard or at the bridge to snipe buildings like bomb tower, tesla, x-bow, mortar or inferno tower. You can pair this card with barb barrel to protect it from swarm units as well.
Early game your main aim is to survive until double elixir by taking as little tower damage as possible and ideally activating your king tower by using the tornado if you get the opportunity. You don't want to play too aggressive with this deck in single elixir however it can be a good strategy to play an unsupported golem to force your opponent to play defence rather than offence.
In double elixir you can begin build up bigger pushes behind your golem. Try to generate an elixir advantage before playing the golem, you can do this by choosing to ignore a small unit in the opposite lane or defending with as little elixir as possible. Check out the video to see how seif using this deck and focus on his decision making throughout the matches. Good Luck everyone!
